Where is Chapter One?

Until Oct 1st 2025, Monster Boyfriend will be in early access and only accessible for my paid Patreon members (Dragon Tier). If you want to play the game early before it's publicly released, you'll need to become a paid member and link your Patreon account to your account here on itch.io. Can't afford to become a member? Not to worry! A FREE demo will be released in 2025. So you'll still be able to try Chapter One, you'll just have to wait longer. On the plus side, the demo will be a more polished, finalized product than the early access version.

So far all my publicly released visual novels have been free as I learned, experimented, and grew as a solo developer. I've learned a lot over the years. And while there's still so much for me to learn, I think I've gotten to a point where I'm comfortable and experienced enough to start making commercial games. As a solo dev, this will help me in the long-term, so that I can keep making visual novels like Monster Boyfriend in the future. In order to help me achieve this goal, releasing Monster Boyfriend, my first intended pay-to-play visual novel in early access chapter-by-chapter each year on Patreon, instead of sharing each chapter publicly as I do with my free-to-play vns, will not only enable me make a little money off of making visual novels as a hobby, but also it will help motivate and ensure that I'm making better quality games.

That's why I'm really encouraging others to give me feedback on this specific project, so hopefully it'll give me a good idea of what I need to work on to get it to where I want it to be. We're not aiming for perfection, but for improvement. If I'm going to be asking people for money to play my games, I want to make sure that they're more polished and of an improved quality so players will feel like they're getting their money's worth when they go to purchase one of my visual novels. I do put a lot of hard work into each and every one and am constantly aiming towards self-improvement. So I appreciate the support and understanding in this regard moving forward in my adventures as a solo dev.

Plans for the Future

This first chapter will be released to the public as a FREE demo on itch.io in October 2025. While Chapter Two I'll be aiming to release into Early Access on Patreon also sometime in Oct 2025. Be sure you're following me either here or on Patreon for future updates. I plan on doing at least one chapter per year releasing them around Halloween if possible. Therefore, with five chapters total, we're looking at the final version not being completed until five years from now (2028-2029).

BUT if you're a Dragon Tier member on Patreon, you'll have a chapter to look forward to each and every year in the meantime as I release them into early access. Assuming of course everything goes according to plan. Keep in mind I am a solo dev and sometimes things happen. Of course I will always be transparent sharing progress and news along the way. Both here on itch.io and Patreon.
