Coming Soon: New Outfits and Dress Up System

It's been a while since I posted an update on the project, so here we are. Today I want to talk about something new I've been working on adding to the game, which is a dress up system in which you'll be able to mix and match your favorite outfits.

I've recently learned something new in Ren'Py: using layered images to create sprites. This makes it easier to customize allowing for more outfit and expression combinations. Enlightened and inspired by this new information, I decided to redo the character sprites in Dragon Roommates, starting with the boys since the 1.2 update will be featuring them. So starting with Ignis in Griffin in the upcoming 1.2 update, you'll be able to change your boyfriend's default outfits as a sort of dress up addition to the game. Note that this will only effect the default outfit worn during Free Time conversations. CGs, Dates, and more specific outfits (such as Pajamas) will continue to be preset.

In addition, you can take each of your boyfriends clothes shopping and earn additional AP by purchasing new clothes for them. Of course, this is going to come out of your date money budget, but your boyfriends are totally worth it, aren't they? ;)

It's probably going to take me at least another month to finish this update, but I'm hoping to have it ready for uploading sometime next month (June 2022).

As for the girls, of course they'll be getting a similar treatment, but that won't be released until the 1.3 update, so Nixie and Wisteria fans will have to wait a few more months to dress up their girlfriends.

In the meantime, I've added some screenshots as well as previews of some of the new outfit/expression combinations for the guys. The green hearts are the shopping background while the pink are for changing clothing that has already been unlocked. I'll be sure to update again as we get closer to the 1.2 update release ~ Hope you're looking forward to it. :D
